Chaudiere Dam

Chaudière Falls Hydro Project is a major upgrade to the previous hydro power plant on the Ottawa River, in the heart of Canada’s capital city. The current 100-year-old ring dam will be replaced by an underground intake structure which will generate 29-megawatts of clean, renewable energy for 20,000 homes along the Ontario Hydro One power grid.  The new facility is scheduled to be operational in 2017.


PERI worked with Bellai Brothers Inc. to provide an efficient, cost-effective solution for construction of the new spillway and water intake channels.

The PERI documentation provided for the assembly of the MULTIPROP towers is exceptional. The compliance officer on site is also reassured by the detailed documentation provided by PERI. The MULTIPROP towers are easy to assemble horizontally, set the height and then lift into place.


TRIO wall form is simply the easiest to use out of all modular wall systems on the market. It requires only one component (the BFD Coupler) to join all panels together. The wide range of accessories makes it possible to do just about anything with the system.

PERI solution

MULTIPROP Shoring Towers were used on the upper intake; each tower consisted of three MP480 MULTIPROPS on a 1.5m grid to support the upper beams and intake structure roof.  To enhance safety while using the system, MULTIPROP Shoring Towers are assembled to the required height while in a horizontal position at ground level, prior to being craned into their final position.

TRIO wall formwork was used for the walls on the upper part of the structure, to provide a quick and flexible solution which was easily adapted to suit the various wall lengths and thicknesses.
