Fly Ash Silos, Oppeln Power Station, Poland

Construction time shortened by three months

Fly ash occurs when burning ground coal, which is needed for the manufacture of industrial cement.
Oppeln power station built three 72 m high circular silos with a diameter of 20 m and a capacity of 50,000 m³ for storing and loading this industrial byproduct.

The working sequence with VARIO girder wall formwork on KGF 240 climbing scaffold got into full swing very quickly for the curved silo walls. This enabled the original construction time schedule to be shortened from ten to seven months.

The adjustment of the VARIO units to the given radius of 10.00 m was made by means of cleats between the steel walings and the GT 24 girders.
Detailed formwork drawings from the PERI engineers helped the site personnel to pre-assemble the formwork units themselves on site.
