Safe and reliable access to storage tank using PERI UP
The Calgary International Airport fuel facility consists of a jet fuel storage tank farm, underground jet fuel hydrant system, and gasoline & diesel storage and distribution facilities. With the planned expansion at Calgary airport, expansion of the fuel farm was necessary. W.S. Nicholls Construction Inc. was awarded the contract to build the 5 million litre, 20.50 m diameter, 14.60 m high tank. A key element for the project was providing safe and secure access for sub-trades working around and inside the tank. Project requirement for scaffolding were, quick erection and dismantling, safe and secure working platforms for sub-trades, stability, particularly in windy conditions which exist in Calgary. PERI provided the project with the PERI UP Rosett Flex scaffolding system access solution. PERI also supplied Industrial stair to provide access to all levels for the workforce.
The PERI UP Rosett nodes welded on the standards at every 0.50 m, offer optimal adjustment in all directions. Thus complex geometrical structures such as cylindrical fuel tank scaffolds can be erected economically. The wedge head at the end of the ledger together with the gravity lock makes assembly very safe and easy. By inserting the wedge head into the Rosett, the wedge drops under its own weight into the Rosett hole and locks.
The high stability of the PERI UP ledger connection reduces the number of deck units and of braces needed.
