UNIPORTAL tables save time at the massive office building project
In order to accommodate growing operations and specialized police requirements, the York Regional Police is constructing the new Support Services Facility in Aurora Ontario. Designed to a LEED Silver standard, the building comprises of 19,500 m2 on 4 levels and parking for 640 cars. Emergency response vehicles is to be accommodated in a 3 level parking structure. A three-storey atrium allows for deep penetration of natural light while external solar screens shade the south and west elevations.
Forma-Con Construction, the forming contractor for this project, decided to use the UNIPORTAL solution in this project for slab formwork. UNIPORTAL is especially suited for projects with a large number of similar slabs and open facades. The PERI assembly team was able to customize the UNIPORTAL tables, minimizing infill areas. UNIPORTAL tables are assembly at PERI yard, resulting in time saving at the job site.
In addition to this advantage, use of two GT 24 girders per girder axis at a spacing of 0.50 m allow the use of UNIPORTAL in large spans with a high degree of stability. UNIPORTAL foldable slab props allow for easy transportation to and from jobsite and lifting the tables over parapets. UNIPORTAL tables with parallel and trapezoidal girder arrangements can be customized to jobsite requirements.
